Chasing the Austerlitz ideal: The enduring quest for decisive battle

Article Abstract:

Austerlitz would become one of the French emperor's most acclaimed battles, which reaffirmed the lessons of his earlier campaigns, that military victory could bring enormous political results. Annihilation of the enemy's army seemed a realistic means to achieve a strategic goal in contrast with the preceding era of limited warfare, when battles rarely achieved dramatic political gains.

Stryker gun to get new loader

Article Abstract:

The redesigning of the Stryker's sophisticated loader on the Mobile Gun System (MGS) will help in preventing jamming problems that caused the vehicle to fail reliability test in 2004. The MGS is planned as one of 10 variants in the Stryker family of wheeled, armored vehicles and is equipped with a direct-fire, 105mm cannon to destroy bunkers and other hard targets.
