Code of CG's security team: 'Failure is not an option'

Article Abstract:

The main mission of the Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team 02 (MSST-02), commissioned on 16 August 2002, was to protect the president of United States, who would be speaking at Ellis Island on the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Lt. Cdr. Jose L. Rodriguez, the captain of the MSST-02 team, and his team demonstrated great vigilance and flexibility in protecting the president. They also detected radiation in the Liberian-flagged container ship M/V Palermo Senator, which was later searched for weapons for mass destruction.

Keeping the home fires burning

Article Abstract:

Many women members of the Navy League were working diligently and in innovative ways to support the war efforts, while the U.S. servicemen were fighting in various combat theaters around the world during the World War II. Navy League women members served as volunteer nurses, as successful recruiters for the Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service (WAVES), and some volunteered for active duty on the war front.

New York City Council/NSCC Division respond to 11 September attack on WTC: report from Ground Zero

Article Abstract:

New York City-region Navy League members were quick to donate money and time to relief efforts in the weeks following the attacks, especially Sea Cadets from the Capodanno Division of Staten Island.
