Combat systems: new approaches needed

Article Abstract:

Air-land maritime operations require new packaging in strike capability which, in turn, necessitates the use of better data systems. New generations of Command and Control systems and ruggedized workstations are ideal for communications and operation planning while data fusion, the ability to process, store, retrieve and broadcast imagery are a requirement. Some naval C412 system innovations come from Celsius Tech and STN Atlas Elektronik and Oerlikon-Contraves Defence.

New developments in MCM

Article Abstract:

Naval equipment suppliers have developed more advanced Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to help naval forces perform mine countermeasure operations in a more complex environment. These ROVs feature sophisticated instruments to be able to operate in any weather conditions and water depths. These include self-propelled sonars, which can accurately survey minefields and classify mines, and expendable mine-disposal vehicles with improved control systems.
