Confronting cocaine smuggling in the eastern Caribbean

Article Abstract:

A vast maritime space, dozens of tiny islands with limited economic resources, uncoordinated law and maritime enforcement regimes and proximity to European and US customs territory has made the eastern Caribbean as a major trafficking route for South American cocaine destined for the European market. Airborne surveillance and reporting carried out by the Regional Security System (RSS) Air Wing is instrumented to establish the parameters of the counterdrugs challenge for this purpose.

Canada targets biker gangs in crackdown on organized crime

Article Abstract:

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are targeting Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMGs), which are involved in the production and trafficking illegal drugs, as being the most organized crime threat in British Columbia. The Hells Angels and a number Vietnamese crime groups are the predominant players in the Canadian marijuana grow operation industry and they are facing increasing competition from rival ethnic organized crime gangs and from other motorcycle clubs.

Security threats are global

Article Abstract:

The collective international action has become very essential for preventing the increasing global security threats and tackling the root causes of insecurity. The workshops at the 6th International Security Forum in Montreux, Switzerland in October 2004 are organized to help the private military firms to tackle the global security threats and also the threats posed by the small arms and light weapons.
