Curtain up on: Space modernization

Article Abstract:

Congressional Budget Office projections show that military space will require heavy spending over the next two decades. Pentagon, in the assorted modernization, considers Transformational Satellite Communications System, needed to provide high-capacity, global connectivity for military users and Space Radar, a nine-satellite constellation able to detect and track moving terrestrial objects in all weather conditions, to be transformational leading to great leaps forward in capability.

Article Abstract:

The Air Force spends half of its resources to airlift, space, intelligence-surveillance-reconnaissance (ISR) systems and other capabilities that support the entire US military establishment. The US Air Force resource allocation shows that about 45 percent of the Air Force budget goes to the joint support enablers consisting of airlifters, tankers, and command, control, communications, computers, ISR systems.

Article Abstract:

The contributions of the U.S. Air Force research to both military and civilian aerospace capabilities are highlighted. The U.S. military satellite-based navigation system called Global Positioning System, the delivery of munitions and the improvement of remote sensing systems are some of the areas where the Air Force initiatives have brought success.
