Decision in the streets

Article Abstract:

The Tactical Decision Game #03-7 presents a situation where 1st Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, 6th Marines (1/6) is posted in the desert country of Kartiq in order to return stability to the region following the removal of the oppressive Kartiqi dictator and the Company's mission is to control Quadrant Alpha, one of the four quadrants that the town of Rikala has been divided into, to prevent the enemy from reestablishing power. As the platoon moves along the streets in three squads, a Marine from 2d Squad is shot at by a sniper following which tremendous firing erupts from the direction the 1st Squad moved towards. The platoon commander now needs to devise a plan and issue orders to the squad leaders as only 3d Squad is available and there is no response from the other two squads who have moved in opposite directions.

Taking out the trash

Article Abstract:

The US has gone from exporting the best of American culture to exporting the worst. Films, TV shows and books have become international commodities that reinforce stereotypes of Americans. The bad taste of simplistic blockbuster films victimizes both domestic and international audiences.
