FN Herstal teams with university of Liege to research less-lethal weapon solutions

Article Abstract:

Group Herstal has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Research and New Technology of Walloria and the University of Liege to jointly conduct research and development in the field of less-lethal weapons. The aim of this collaboration is to equip military riot -control forces and law-enforcement units to control crowds and arrest suspects with reduced risk of lethal injury to those involved.

The outcome of the Netherlands national elections, which is scheduled for 22 November 2006, might have a great impact on the country's defence industry, whose largest contractors are Stork Aerospace and Thales Nederland (Thales-NL). A change in government might affect the defence procurement for the Netherlands armed forces.
