Global perspective: Satellites support Germany's expeditionary plans

Article Abstract:

Germany is all set to launch the first of five planned SAR-Lupe radar satellites in 2005, which will be supporting the German military in its expeditionary plans. The SAR-Lupe satellites will be carrying synthetic aperture radars that can penetrate clouds and observe a large area at low resolution, while the Lupe, the German word for magnifying glass, will offer high-resolution views of areas of interest.
