Ground-based air-defense efforts in the UK

Article Abstract:

In the year 2000, United Kingdom had announced a ground-based air-defense (GBAD) program to reduce the cost of ownership of GBAD equipments while at the same time maintaining operational capability against emerging threats. However, program now runs into rough weather but a number of stop-gap arrangements that may well be extended over a period of time are introduced in the interim.

Article Abstract:

Steyr-Daimler-Puch (SDP), owned by General Dynamics since 2003 forms part of the GD European Land Combat Systems (ELCS) division, which together with GD Armament and Technical Products, GD Ordnance and Tactical Systems make up the GD Combat Systems Group. SDP's turnover is currently running at EUR250 million per annum, and its workforce is 360 strong.
