Heavy-handed police tactics may backfire on Zimbabwe administration

Article Abstract:

Robert Mugabe continues to be defiant of international condemnation of the heavy-handed tactics used by his administration to suppress political opposition and internal dissent. However, the alleged police cruelty against some opposition activists arrested after the break-up of a gathering in Harara on March 11, 2007 may yet backfire on the government while likely re-uniting a divided opposition movement.

UN Ivorian operation needs reinforcements

Article Abstract:

The violent protest in Cote d'Ivore has led to the extinction of the peace process in the United Nations (UN) and has put the UN Operations in Cote d'Ivore (UNOCI) in a desperate need for reinforcements. It is reported that the renewal of the protests break out will likely put UNOCI under pressure again.
