Netherlands may order more Bushmasters

Article Abstract:

The Netherlands defense ministry (MoD) is considering the purchase of additional Bushmaster 4x4 armored infantry mobility vehicles as part of the planned replacement of its Patria 6x6 XA-188 wheeled armored personnel carriers. In response to parliamentary questions, the MoD has expressed the need for specific functionalities and characteristics offered by the Bushmaster armored personnel transport, including patrol duties, with a high degree of mobility and an open image to the local population.

Dutch Fenneks make Afghanistan debut

Article Abstract:

Netherlands forces have received twelve Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) Fennek 4x4 light armored reconnaissance vehicles to support their operations in Afghanistan. The first four of the high-tech 10-tonne vehicles were introduced to Royal Netherlands Army service in 2005 for the Kandahar Airfield where they are assigned to a Force Protection Platoon (FPP), manned by 42 (NL) Tank Battalion.

Integration facility aids development of BAE Systems' APC mission module for FRES

Article Abstract:

BAE Systems has designed and constructed its armored personnel carrier (APC) mission module for U.K. Future Rapid Effects System (FRES) program, with the aid of the company's new rapid prototyping and system integration facility. Besides supporting the in-service vehicle fleet, the Leicester facility is meant to underpin BAE Systems' ambitions for participation in the FRES program.
