Muzzle velocity radar hones artillery fire

Article Abstract:

Automated artillery muzzle velocity radar is included in the range of ground-based battlefield surveillance radars marketed by Moscow-based Almaz-Antey Air Defence. The automated radar is designed to measure the muzzle velocity of artillery projectiles with a caliber of more than 20 mm and initial velocity of between 50 and 2,000 m/sec to an accuracy of 0.05 %, thus enhancing artillery systems, wherein accurate muzzle velocity data is very important in reducing the dispersion of artillery fire from self-propelled and towed artillery systems.
