How 'transformational' is US army transformation?

Article Abstract:

The United States army is transforming into a lean, agile and joint capabilities-based force to meet the emerging challenges of the 21st century. The transformational goals of the Department of Defense describes the defense strategy and force structure, which consists of protecting the U.S. homeland and U.S. bases overseas, protecting and sustaining power in distant theaters, denying U.S. enemies sanctuary, and protection of U.S. information networks from attack.

Securing the high ground: A partnership effort

Article Abstract:

The importance of partnerships and joint interdependence amongst US military forces in the face of the changing and ever evolving security requirements is emphasized. The US Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command that is at the forefront of many of the Army's partnership and joint interdependence efforts is one example of such cooperation.
