Humanitarian demining

Article Abstract:

There is a possibility to design entirely new devices and systematic methods for humanitarian demining through application of both the present and future technologies. These technologies include signal processing and algorithms for analyzing sensor information that were initially designed for 'smart bombs' and other active targeting equipment. It is approximated that around 100,000 mines are cleared per year.
