IMI brandishes Iron Fist for armour protection

Article Abstract:

The Israel Military Industries (IMI) has worked for 20 years to develop the Iron Fist active protection system (APS) for armoured vehicles to satisfy the needs of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and has tested the system for defence against attack from rocket propelled anti-tank grenades and kinetic energy (KE) projectiles. The Iron Fist consists of two-tube launcher, flat-panel radar antenna, and interceptor and IR sensor and could be installed on various vehicles like armoured personnel carriers and main battle tank while the system for light vehicles like the US High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) is being developed.
