India seals deal to take Russian carrier

Article Abstract:

The Indian defense minister George Fernandes and the Russian defense minister signed an agreement on 20th January 2004 for an amount of US$1.5 billion. Both the countries have entered into a deal to transfer the Russian carrier Admiral Groshkov to India after a series of discussions over a long period of time, and the same will be renamed as INS Vikramaditya and it will replace the old INS Viraat.

Article Abstract:

Two U.S. Coast Guard projects aimed to replace the existing small utility crafts are expected to have 700 25-foot boats known as Response Boat-small (RB-S) by the year 2010. The Coast Guard small-boat replacement project commenced in the year 2000 would improve efficiencies in the savings, acquisitions cost, and proficiencies.

DOD selects Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics for LCS

Article Abstract:

The US Department of Defense (DOD) selected two bids led by Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors and General dynamicsE Bath Iron Works (BIW) to continue the next stage of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). The approach of meeting demanding LCS requirements by Lockheed Martin and BIW is mentioned.
