Iran's ballistic missile projects: uncovering the evidence

Article Abstract:

Analysts believe that Iran continues to cultivate a ballistic missile capability despite confusing reports pertaining to the alleged progress of the country's ballistic weapons programs. In the rocket category, the Iranian Defense Industries Organization (IDIO) shows that short-range undguided rockets were first developed in 1975 with the Arash 122mm system reportedly based on a Russian BM-11 platform. Meanwhile, Iran is likely to be continuing the development of its Scud missile capability as it has a few hundred Scud B and Scud C missiles in its arsenal. Iran is also likely to have a transporter-erector-launcher (TEL) capability as the MAZ 543 TEL has been seen in the country.
