Leadmark spearheads Canada's naval strategy for 2020

Article Abstract:

Canada's new naval strategy, dubbed Leadmark, is for a highly adaptable and flexible maritime force that will provide the country with various relevant policy options across a continuum of domestic and international contingencies. The navy will produce combat forces that are responsive, rapidly deployable, sustainable, versatile, lethal and survivable. These Canadian forces will be self-sufficient and be able to integrate into a joint US or multinational forces anywhere in the world.

Canadian government faces challenge on ice-breakers

Article Abstract:

The new Conservative government plan to go ahead and acquire three armed heavy ice-breakers for the Arctic has the senior officers of the Navy quietly voicing their disapproval, though they are refusing to comment officially on the issue. The Canadian Forces Maritime Command (MARCOM) hopes to dissuade the government from acquiring the ice-breakers and instead opt for ice-capable vessels to patrol the country's northern maritime approaches.

Canada advances SCF concept with US support

Article Abstract:

The US Navy (USN) has agreed to lend the Canadian Forces an amphibious assault ship to help develop an operational concept for the new Canadian Standing Contingency Force (SCF). It will facilitate to field a globally deployable integrated task force to achieve rapid effect in stabilizing crisis or conflict and command it effectively.
