Civil affairs integration: What you should know about civil affairs

Article Abstract:

The Marine Corps' experiences in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) lead to the recognition that the conduct of civil-military operations (CMO) should not be dependent on the civil affairs groups (CAGs). CA should only be assigned as a secondary mission to the artillery regiments of the CMO, which is a local ground combat element (GCE) commander's mission, thus enabling more personnel and resources to conduct the CMO.
