Korea's Golden Eagle leaves the nest

Article Abstract:

Korean Aerospace Industries T-50 Golden Eagle advanced training aircraft program's first prototype airframe is in production, with a maiden flight expected in June 2002. It is expected that the Republic of Korea Air Force will purchase the aircraft for training and light combat roles.

USAF builds a smarter A-10

Article Abstract:

The US Air Force proposes to implement a series of complementary upgrades that it expects to allow the Fairchild A/OA-10 Thunderbolt II to remain operationally effective in battlefield air operations and airborne forward air-control roles until 2028. A Precision Engagement programme would be embraced to enhance the aircraft's targeting facilities and engagement accuracy, rewinging of the fleet to extend its service life and potentially, an uprated engine to assist main operations.

Lightweight airborne radars are piercing the battlefields veil

Article Abstract:

Synthetic-aperture radars (SARs) can enhance the usefulness of small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), light aircraft and reconnaissance pods. The synthetic-aperture radars work effectively with the help of advances in lightweight antennas and compact signal together with cost reductions.
