Lockheed Martin begins JSF demonstrator assembly

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin begins its airframe assembly for the X-35 next-generation concept demonstration aircraft (CDA) under the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. The company is also testing the flight-control software for the concept plane by applying it in a NF-16D Fighting Falcon fighter jet. The modified NF-16D serves as a simulator test aircraft and is calibrated to equal the attributes of the X-35 warplane. The testing also involves carrier landing simulations, aerial refueling, flight formation and air to air tracking.
