Bad day in Bavaria - sticking to Kosovo's script

Article Abstract:

The US Army Europe prepares American forces for NATO duty at the Seventh Army Training Command's Combat Manuever Training Center in Hohenfels, Germany. It conducts specially designed rehearsal exercises at the 40,000- acre center, which is the Army's largest maneuvers training area in Europe. The training enables US Army soldiers assigned to Europe to undergo a continuing, complex series of worst-case scenarios of peacekeeping duty before they ever set foot in the Balkans.

A desire to win

Article Abstract:

The Army's annual 'Best Ranger Competition' (BRC) is an event the service created to test soldiers' athletic, academic, mental and military makeup as individuals and as a team. The three-day, 24-hour-a-day competition requires two-man teams to hurdle a number of gruelling tests. This includes an obstacle course, 'slide for life' event, difficult rope climb involving technique and strength, night land navigation course and two- mile buddy run. The BRC is considered the most outstanding of the Army's military athletic competitions.
