M915 series line haul tractors

Article Abstract:

The US Army uses the M915, M915A1 and M915A2 line haul tractors for its logistics and equipment transport needs. The vehicles provide Army units with an effective system for resupply operations from the docks to unit support areas. The M915A2 line haul tractors and M916A1 light equipment and medium equipment transport vehicles, acquired in late 1990, are currently undergoing a conversion program wherein engines and axle assemblies are salvaged for reinstallation in new cabs and frames.

Article Abstract:

The US Army has launched a program to modernize its existing land-based mobile force. The service is currently developing a platform to define the requirements portions of the request for proposal for the procurement of vehicles that will equip the 21st-century brigade combat teams at Fort Lewis, WA. The US Army said it is considering to acquire both wheeled and tracked vehicles because of the performance, capability and cost advantages of tracked medium-weight systems.

The wheels start turning

Article Abstract:

The US Army has launched a plan to reorganize and reequip five brigade combat teams (BCTs) as an interim force. The new BCTs, which will be equipped with light and medium armored vehicles, wukk be used in urban terrain or complex terrains such as forested areas, jungles and mountains. The US Army will use a small number of retrofitted light armored vehicles IIIs from the Canadian Army in field trials.
