MILF turns to terrorism

Article Abstract:

The attack on the Bullok Complex that sidestepped a ceasefire and overran one of the last remaining safe havens of the More Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has precipitated a rash of military and terrorist strikes across Mindanao. The February 2003 assault by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on a guerilla base area in southern Mindanao triggered more violent and disruptive reaction to the islandEs fragile security and prospects for peace.

Fighting in Sulu threatens Philippines peace talks

Article Abstract:

The Sulu region of the southern Philippines witnessed outbreak of heavy fighting and retaliatory bomb explosions in Manila and major southern cities. This dashed hopes that impending peace talks between the government and the country's largest insurgent force, the Moro Islamic Liberation (MILF) might bring a measure of calm to the turbulent Muslim south.

Philippine Army prevents MILF reorganization

Article Abstract:

The open warfare between Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is likely to have a wider impact on the war in terrorism in Southeast Asia. The war broke when AFP troops attacked a guerrilla base area known as Bullock complex in Mindanao in February 2003.
