MX-20 EO/IR turret offers new role for Aurora

Article Abstract:

The installation of the L-3 Wescam MX-20 electro-optical, infrared (EO/IR) sensor, mounted in a 5-axis gyro-stabilized, twenty inch diameter turret has transformed Canada's maritime aircraft CP-140 Aurora into a long-range patrol and strategic intelligence. The sensors include a high magnification thermal imager, colour daylight 3 CCD television (TV) camera with zoom lens, monochrome and colour TV with step-zoom spotter lens.

Hypersonic missile developments

Article Abstract:

EADSE missile systems company LFK-Lenkflugkorpersysteme, Germany has conducted a test firing of a hypersonic carbon fiber composite missile designated HFK-E1 that surpassed the speed of M7.0. The firing might be the last in LFK's hypersonic missile development program, following the German Defense MinistryEs (MoD) withdrawal of the funding in January 2004.
