Maoists attack US centre in Nepal

Article Abstract:

The Maoists insurgents have directly attacked diplomatic premises, the US information center in Kathmandu and might mark a change in tactics to include targeting Western interests. Following the bombing, the US embassy released a statement revealing that the attack on US diplomatic facilities would only serve to increase to increase American support for the efforts of the government of Nepal to find a peaceful solution to the insurgency.

US concerned by China's growing military potential

Article Abstract:

'The Military Power of the People's Republic of China', an annual report issued by Pentagon to the Congress on July 19, 2005, claims that China is developing a military capacity for operations beyond the island of Taiwan. The report expressed concern that although China did not currently face a direct threat from another nation, the pace and scope of its military build up are, already, such as to put regional military balances at risk.

USA repairs relations with South Korea

Article Abstract:

A egetting-to-know-youE meeting was held by US President George W. Bush with South Korean president Roh Moohyun on 14th May 2003 in an attempt to repair the stringent relationships between the nations. However, many South Koreans observe this approach as overly provocative and more likely to produce conflict than avert it.
