Overseas prepositioning - the key to forward deterrence

The US Navy's manager for Advanced Projects, Support Ships and Craft describes operational readiness and the Defense Department's Maritime Prepositioning Force programs. The new generation of transport ships is also analyzed.

MSC prepositioning ship named for USAF hero

Article Abstract:

Sealift Inc's 652-foot ship, which is chartered by the Military Sealift Command, has been name after retired Col Bernard F Fisher, an Air Force pilot who was awarded the Medal of Honor for a heroic rescue during the Vietnam war. The ceremonies at the Military Ocean Terminal in Sunny Point, NC, for the MV Maj Bernard F Fisher was attended by Fisher and his wife, Rella, and six sons.
