Mini-UAVs - the next small thing

Article Abstract:

Backpack carried, hand-launched miniature unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), that can navigate autonomously and return automatically to a previous waypoint, with its operator knowing where the vehicle is and where its sensor is pointing, are now in service in thousands in number for cheap overhead reconnaissance. Features of AeroVironment's Pointer, Puma, Raven, Dragon Eye, Lockheed Martin's Desert Hawk, Elbit's Skylark, Rafael's Skylite and other such UAVs, are presented.

Joint Strike Fighter-weathering the storm as competitors circle

The Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program is engaged in a critical design review for lightened, optimized design after it faced a major crisis in 2004. The most immediate issue encountered by the JSF is the excessive weight factor.
