Naval Sea Systems Command: Shaping the Navy to combat threats in an uncertain world

Article Abstract:

The details of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NavSea), which is the United States (U.S.) seagoing services largest acquisition command that is responsible for more than 100 programs and nationwide components, are presented. NavSea, responsible for adopting good business practices, serves as a technical authority for maintaining the safety of the sailors and systems, which help in combating various threats.

New kind of lily pad: Navy relief effort validates sea basing

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Navy's contributions to the Defense Department's tsunami relief efforts helped the South-east Asia as the devastating natural catastrophe surged across it. The Navy sent nearly 30 ships to the Indian Ocean to provide aid which included 15 military sealift command ships, which provided logistics support and delivered goods and equipment to the ravaged region.

'Presence with a purpose': surface Navy shields forces afloat, ashore

Article Abstract:

The surface Navy's role in providing homeland defense, is described. The surface Navy is in better position to perform these roles because of Naval Operations adm. Vern Clark's focus on readiness and Congress's willingness to fund it.
