Navy League, councils, face challenge of recruiting younger members

Article Abstract:

Reports state the average age of Navy League's membership as 63, and recruiting new young members is a constant challenge for the organization and its councils. Connie O'Shaughnessy-Los, president of Santa Barbara, California, Council who is a leading Navy League recruiter states that there is a need to have a real blend in the membership.

Metro Detroit Councils lend hand to help launch 'Navy Week'

Article Abstract:

The US Navy's Office of Community Outreach in Millington, Tennessee was formed to promote the Navy in places where it receives limited exposure and to further its goals it held a number of 'Navy Weeks' throughout the country. The efforts of the Detroit Metropolitan Council towards the holding of the Detroit Navy Week are highlighted.

Councils lend support to recruiters

Article Abstract:

The Navy League councils have adopted many recruiting districts and offices around the country to give them additional support in recruiting. The Navy Recruiting District (NRD) sponsors a DRPer (Delayed Entry Program), where the DEP recruits are able to enter the service upto a year after enlisting.
