Network centric warfare

Article Abstract:

Network centric warfare theory is about improving technologies, and its operations are aimed, fundamentally at the long-term process for renewing the capabilities of US military forces. The Navy has used the term ForceNet to label its process for adapting the network centric warfare theory that aims to improve decision making by creating a seamless grid of information and capabilities accessible to all elements of the force.

Cohen: No easy answers in making fundamental change

Rear Adm. Jay M. Cohen, chief of naval research, commanding the Office of Naval Research (ONR) discusses ONR's basic mission, strategy, Swampworks projects, and science and technology (S&T) projects. The ONR is an administrative office that provides funding to research institutions in the Navy Department as well as in academia to support S&T projects.

Coast guard mulls major changes to deepwater program requirements

Article Abstract:

The US Coast Guard is reassessing requirements for its Deepwater modernization program, which was originally conceived in 1996. Congress is considering a plan to halve the acquisition timeline for Deepwater and may even consider increasing the programEs quantities of cutter and other systems.
