A modernization plan for procurement of equipment for the German Army is discussed. The career of German Undersecretary of State for Procurement Dr. Walther Stutzle and his efforts to set up the public-private partnership system are discussed.

The German defence review: security according to the budget?

The debate over the new structure of the Bundeswehr is an indication that Germany is not ready to ready to assume its geopolitical role. Budget restrictions and party politics rather than national interest are framing the debate.

Simulation in German Army training, demostrated by the example of the Combat Training Centre

Article Abstract:

A modernization plan for the German Army is discussed, with emphasis on use of computer-assisted training aids such as combat simulators. The new Combat Training Centre will be the most advanced facility of its type in the world.
