PHALCON AEW books flight to India

Article Abstract:

The United States unconditional approval of the sale of the Israeli PHALCON Airborne Early Warning (AEW) system to India has been pleasant surprise for both the Indians as well as the Israelis. The key features of the system are the unique integration of sensors, unique radar, selectable surveillance, optimized detection and tracking, faster tracking and no false alarms, extension detection range and dense operating environments.

India reforms acquisition process and speeds up modernisation

The acquisition of the BAE systems HAWK for the Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) programme has helped in overhauling the image of the Indian acquisition process as being very slow and plagued by indecision. Defense minister, George Fernandes is the driving force behind many of the changes and the overall modernization effort.
