Phoenix or endangered species?: dark clouds gathering over V-22 Osprey program

Article Abstract:

The V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft program is facing problems as a result of crashes in early-model aircraft, program delays, and its overall costs. However, the program promises to create jobs for for 14,000 people in 43 states, leading to significant support in Congress. Some Congressmen have criticized the program and introduced bills which could slow the program.

Bomber issues again on the agenda: support for bomber force transcends contentious issues

Article Abstract:

The US Air Force bomber fleet seems to fit well with US military transformation plans but there are questions as to proper fleet mix and the role of emerging technologies such as unmanned aerial vehicles.

Ttwo fatal crashes of the U.S. Marine Corp's V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft since April 2000 have caused concern in both houses of Congress, and could ground the entire program.
