Poland launches major security apparatus restructure

Article Abstract:

The new Polish government is launching a major restructure of the country's security apparatus, including disbanding the Military Information Service (WSI). The reforms will be supervised by the powerful new Minister Co-ordinator for Special Services, but it is highly unlikely that the government will push through the reforms with the speed it initially implied as legislative controls and the need to maintain an intelligence capability during reform process will slow the measures' implementation.

Mehlis report leaves motive for Hariri assassination unclear

Article Abstract:

The German prosecutor Detlev Mehlis report on the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri has left open the important question of political or criminal motive. The technical evidence is strong, but the report does not factor in the historic web of corruption and business and political alliances within the Syrian intelligence structures in Lebanon.
