Procurement and modernization: The Royal Australian Navy embraces the Defense White Paper

Article Abstract:

The Defense White Paper, which details the Australian's Government's decision about Australia's strategic policy is a major statement that would help to determine the future direction of the Australian Defense Force (ADF). Comprehensive review of Australian's Defense policy since the mid-1980's the White Paper underpins the structure of the ADF by reviewing policy foundations, strategy, people capability and funding.

Procurement and modernization- programmes and major R&D activities

Article Abstract:

The Italian Navy faced transformation of the recruitment system and the shift to a volunteer force to dramatically change the way the Fleet was conceived and operated. While the reduction of numbers, in terms of hulls and personnel was inevitable, the plan was to fully comply with the new needs by involving both the acquisition of new ships and aircraft as well as the modernization of some of the existing vessels.

Procurement programs of the Middle-East and North-African navies

Article Abstract:

High oil prices in 2006 have resulted in increased investment by Middle East and North-African countries in procurement programs to enhance the capabilities of their respective Navies. Some acquisition programs of countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Oman and United Arab Emirates are discussed in the light of a show of increased strength of the Iranian Navy.
