Ballistic-missile defense aims to keep its feet on the ground

The US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) is in the process of overhauling its programs to form an overall Ballistic Missile Defense System involving testing elements that can provide interim capability and, which can be subsequently integrated with advances in technology. The US Department of Defense has adopted this cautious approach due to cost increases and reassessment of threat factors.
