SAIC forms team to bid for USCG deepwater program

Article Abstract:

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has invited seven companies to join its team for the US Coast Guard's (USCG) Integrated Deepwater System (IDS) competition. The IDS program is aimed at providing the USCG with an integrated system complete with helicopters, patrol boats, endurance cutters and fixed-wing aircraft, so that it can successfully discharge all of its duties by the 21st century. SAIC has selected Marinette Marine Corporation, Bath Iron Works, Soza & Company, Sikorsky Aircraft, Fuentez Systems Concepts, Interactive Television Company and Gibbs & Cox.

Keys to the future: Clark touts Sea Swap and Fleet Response Plan

Article Abstract:

The chief of naval operations Adm. Vern Clark describes about the Sea Swap, the practice of rotating crews to deployed ships, and the Fleet Response Plan, which has postured the Navy for the future. The commander of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) has stated that the organization is working on enhancing the logistics vessel offload capability by testing various options to improve offload time.
