As underwater threat re-emerges, navy renews emphasis on ASW

Article Abstract:

Chief of Naval Operation (CNO) Adm. Vern Clark has created three new organizations to drive an effort to improve antisubmarine warfare (ASW) capabilities and drafting a new ASW master plan, as it wants to increase funding into the fight against a re-emerging undersea threat. The aim of the master plan is to achieve a state of 'undersea superiority' that would ensure rapid access to a threat area.

Navy secretary seeks solutions from industry

Article Abstract:

Sea-Air-Space (SAS) Secretary of the Navy Luncheon urged the defense industry to think less of short-term profits and more of the nation's need in a time of war. The secretary stated that the Navy had laid out its 30-year shipbuilding plan to produce a 313-ship fleet, which help the industry plan for the future.

Helicopters' tactical usefulness was first demonstrated in the Korean War. A history of the development of the first military helicopters accompanies first-person crew narratives.
