Selex launches data-enabled squad-level infantry soldier situation awareness tool

Article Abstract:

Selex Communications formally launched the Infantry Soldier Situation Awareness Tool (ISSAT) in late September 2006. The ISSAT bearer is a data-enabled version of the standard Selex H4855 2.4 GHz transceiver (DEPRR), fitted with a replacement switchpack to give it both data and voice transmission capabilities, and can handle up to 32 soldiers on a single net, updating their positions every two seconds, and it is suitable for use up to platoon level.

ITT Defense maintains a three-pronged attack on market for dismounted radios

Article Abstract:

ITT Defense has introduced its new Soldier Radio (SR) as a high-end counterpart for dismounted soldier communications, which include the Spearhead hand-held SINCGARS radio and the SpearNet embedded networking radio. The SR is a fully programmable and secure networking transceiver, which complies with the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) software communication architecture (SCA).
