Shadow warriors

Article Abstract:

The MC-130P Combat Shadows of the US Air Force Special Operations Command, (AFSOC) are low-visibility tankers which fly in politically sensitive territories to provide aerial refueling to special operations helicopters, mostly at night and on occasion conduct night airdrops. The tankers are at a crossroads since, though upgraded in the late 1990s, have been put to greater and harder use in Afghanistan and Iraq than originally expected.

Mission of mercy: Following a devastating tsunami, U.S. military delivers needed relief

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Force responded very quickly to the needs of Southeast Asian countries struck by the recent tsunami. The airmen who planned and flew the tsunami relief missions did not specifically train or rehearse for such humanitarian efforts, but it was not difficult to transition their combat skills from landing on primitive runaways to relief airlifts.
