Sikorsky's Hawk: an all-purpose helo for the 21st century

Article Abstract:

The US Navy will remanufacture its SH-60R anti-submarine warfare helicopters. The conversion program involves the improvement of cockpit mission equipment, upgrading of AYK-14 mission computer, improvements of its displays, keysets, tactical aids and communication systems. The SH-60R will be armed with new AGM-114 Hellfire antiarmor missiles, Mk46 and Mk50 anti-submarine warfare torpedoes and a 7.62mm machine gun. The chopper will also get a 20,000 flight hours extension upgrades and its operating load will be increased to 23,500 pounds.

LMAS makes first flight of new marine tanker

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co has conducted the first flight test of the aerial refueling version of its C-130J Hercules transport being built for the Marine Corps. Called the KC-130J, the aircraft made its first flight at Lockheed Martin's facility in Marietta, GA. It has a 57,500-lb fuel offload capacity using wing fuel and external tanks and the capability of carrying an additional 24,392 lbs of fuel in a specially configured internal fuselage tank.

United Defense's Mk110 gun to arm LCS and New Destroyer

Article Abstract:

The US Navy has selected the 57mm Mk110 Close-in Gun System for the baseline design of its DD(X) next-generation destroyer and to arm the Littoral Combat Ship. The Mk110 of the United Defense Industries Inc. is a rapid-fire automatic cannon and an export derivative of the Mk3 gun built by Bofors Defence of Sweden, a subsidiary of United Defense.
