Singapore moves to realize its Formidable ambitions

Article Abstract:

Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN) ambitious plans to include six RSS Formidable, advanced multi-mission frigates, shows its continuous development of the RSN from as coastal patrol force to balanced, highly professional and technically proficient navy. The ship is undergoing combat systems check out, systems Integration and acceptance testing and will sail frequently during the whole checkout procedure and would be operational in service from 2007.

Project Delta frigates to enter service in 2007

Article Abstract:

Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN's) new Project Delta multi-mission stealth frigates undertaken by France's DCN for six ships will enter service from 2007 due to delay of about a year on the original programme announced in 2000. The new 110m frigates will feature significant anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, plus the ability to operate and support a 10t helicopter.

Singapore receives first Formidable addition

Article Abstract:

RSS Formidable, the first of the Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN's) six new Formidable-class multimission frigates, has joined the Republic of Singapore Navy's 185 Squadron. The Formidable-class ships will deliver a step change in capability in the areas of anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare to the RSN, which is planning to have all six ships in service by the end of 2008.
