Single integrated air picture holds the key to Navy's net centric plans

Article Abstract:

An engineering office in Crystal City, Virginia is expected to deliver a computer model, Configuration 05 to the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in Washington that would enable the Navy to take several steps forward in its years-long quest to fully implement the theory of network centric warfare. Configuration 05 is envisioned as the centerpiece of product called SIAP, or single Integrated Air Picture.

Sentinel of the Atlantic

Article Abstract:

Vice Adm. Vivien S. Crea, commander of the Coast Guard Atlantic Area and Maritime Defense Zone Atlantic, talks about her job responsibilities, top priority being homeland security and search and rescue, against a backdrop of a deteriorating fleet of ships and planes. On the question of women in uniform she firmly believes in capability and not gender deciding who should serve the nation.

Watch over the Pacific

Article Abstract:

Adm. William J. Fallon, commander of the Pacific Command (PACOM), is improving communications with China's military as a means to create a more transparent relationship and build mutual confidence. Fallon and his unit commanders are engaging with countries throughout the Pacific to foster an environment less conducive to terrorists and bolster the region's champions of democracy.
