South African defence industry revisited

Article Abstract:

The second half of 2006 has found the South African defence industry still struggling with restructuring, in an attempt to save the high-technology defence-industrial complex created by the governments of the apartheid era. An assessment of the South African defence related industries (SADRI), which have allowed the country to expand the size of the defence sector, by including companies that are peripherally involved in defence, as well as enterprises which manufacture and provide equipment for police forces and fire departments, is presented.

The defense industry of Romania: on the brink of privatisation

Article Abstract:

The Romanian defense industry that was an efficient and dynamic economic sector of the country until 1989 offers an attractive potential for foreign and local investors and partners. Converting the non-efficient capacities of the civil destination and strengthening the remaining ones through technology transfer and modernization proved to be very profitable for the future of this sector and an important challenge for the investors.

The ROK defense market-An overview

The Republic of Korea (ROK) that is seeking to modernize its armed forces to a level to commensurate with its economic strength is discussed. The ROK government is giving support to the growth and consolidation of a capable national aerospace and defence industry.
