South Africa's arms packages - the latest twists

Article Abstract:

South Africa has issued a new Request for Information for lead-in fighter trainers as it awaits responses to its Request for Best and Final Offers (BAFO) for re-equipment programme of the SA National Defense Force (SANDF). The programme includes four corvettes, six naval helicopters, 60 light utility helicopters, four submarines, 48 light fighters and 108 main battle tanks. South Africa is seeking 100% offset divided equally between defense and the civil sector. Competing countries and industries have until the end of May 1998 to submit their proposals, after which will a month or two of detailed evaluation.

IDEX 2007 preview

An important platform that fully meets the marketing and exhibiting needs of the world's leading defense companies, IDEX 2007 is expected to include features like a static exhibition area, a live firing range, a live mobility demonstration area, a naval exhibition and an online press center.

Africa Aerospace and Defense 2006

Article Abstract:

The Africa Aerospace and Defense exhibition 2006 was held at Air Force Base Ysterplaat, Cape Town, South Africa from September 20-22, 2006. Some of the aircraft on display included the Saab Gripen, BAE Systems Hawk and AgustaWestland A109 Light Utility Helicopter, with models and displays of armored vehicles, warships and missiles from India, China and Russia.
