Industry rises to the challenge of increased maritime security threats

Article Abstract:

The threat to international security, infrastructure and commerce has spread to the maritime sector, and there were several attacks on shipping, in and around ports and on the open seas. Maritime industry has responded to these threats with the establishment of an international code and technological advances, and the International Ship and Port Facilities Security (ISPS) Code requires port authorities to maintain effective security within their facilities.

New US Africa Command adopts a benign stance for maximum appeal and support

Article Abstract:

The establishment of Africa Command (AFRICOM) with Africa by the U.S. is based on humanitarian help, awareness of maritime security and stresses on unity and interaction with the various African continent countries. The AFRICOM will look after port security and illegal fishing to continue trade with the world and invite new investors in the African continent.

More security needed at US and UK ports

Article Abstract:

The ports of UK and US need more security intelligence in order to maintain safety due to their extreme vulnerability. The new legislation in the US has eroded possible advantages for the terrorists in carrying out major port attacks.
