Syria pressurized to crack down on Iraqi Ba'athists

Article Abstract:

Damascus is being pressurized by the U.S. and Iraqi officials to shut down the activities of former Iraqi Ba'athists, as they are suspected for helping fund and direct Iraq's insurgency from Syrian territory. A recognized Ba'ath Party, which comprises of members of the former Iraqi regime and Syrian sympathizers, is suspected to have been established in Syria and is playing a role in the insurgency in neighboring Iraq.

US-Libyan relations continue to thaw

Article Abstract:

The lifting of sanctions against Libya by US which re-established diplomatic ties with Libya in June 2004, has brought a mood of optimism to the Libyan economy in dire need of investment, The two countries still harbor differences over human rights, terrorism and democracy, and the US administration seems intent on Libya addressing such issues, before making any further progress in the diplomatic front.

USA ties terrorist attacks in Iraq to extensive Zarqawi network

The US Central Command stated that the attack on 2 March 2004 that killed 185 ShiaEa Muslims during the religious festival of Ashura is expected to be the operations planned by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. ZarqawiEs role as a co-ordinator of diverse extremist networks in Iraq and beyond is examined.
