US Army plans strategy for vehicle platforms

Article Abstract:

The US Army undertook a Platform Systems Demonstration (PSD) static display in August 2006, aimed as a 'market survey' in order to assess the capability of the participating platforms to meet identified fleet needs without loss of existing capabilities. Operational characteristics that were examined to be implemented in future tactical wheeled vehicles included survivability, network centricity, sustainability, agility and deployability.

US Army marches on with Future Combat Systems programme

Article Abstract:

The US Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) programme is entering a new phase as it is trying to support the army's future tactical warfare needs. The FCS network would be tying together four building blocks such as a system-of-systems common operating environment, battle command software, communications and computers and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

U.S. Army North conducts first air deployment of its Sentinel command-and-control vehicle

Article Abstract:

The first tactical air deployment of the new Sentinel command-and-control vehicle was conducted by the U.S. Army North (USARNORTH) from its headquarters at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, to Sacramento, California. The vehicle was deployed by C-17 in support of "Exercise Golden Guardian", an earthquake civil response exercise sponsored by the State of California.
