TKMS unveils ship designs for 21st century

Article Abstract:

ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) revealed at the TKMS-organized MECON 2006 conference held from 29-31 August 2006, four designs for naval surface ships planned to meet 21st century defense and security requirements. These include designs for the MEKO CSL combat ships for the littorals, the MEKO MHD 150 helicopter-carrying dock ship, and Guardian and Sentinel designs of offshore patrol vessels (OPVs).

Swedish defense industry warms to exports as domestic markets cool

Article Abstract:

The impact of a new round of defense budget cutbacks on Sweden's defense industry is discussed. The Sweden's latest defense bill, approved by the parliament in December 2004, instructs that the annual defense budget is to be structurally cut by SKr3.1 billion and it has to be achieved as early as 2007, a full year sooner than anticipated by the military.
